The Dirty Dozen

There are many mixed feelings about organic foods- fruits, veggies, meat, grains, baby food, dairy products, and the list goes on... Maybe you believe that an organic label is fake and not truly organic, or maybe organic foods do not fit into your budget- this is understandable, especially with today's economy and the often hefty price difference between organic and conventional foods. Also, it is true that the non-organic fruits or veggies often look better- but keep in mind that these products have been given "extra help" to look pretty for you (think Botox). Fruits and veggies are living products and will have flaws- they age just as we do.

Whether you support organic foods or not, there are five veggies and seven fruits that have been rightfully nominated as the highest pesticide laden bunch. These dirty dogs soak up chemicals and pesticides, while some even have fertilizer manufactured directly into the seed- this means that you cannot wash this "dirt" away- instead you absorb it into your precious body. So, it is highly recommended that you try to incorporate as many of these twelve fruits and veggies in organic form into your diet. Even if you start with apples, for example, that is a start. I promise you will feel better about your purchases and about the dedication you have given to you and your family's health. You deserve it!
