500 grams ripe strawberries
3 sweet apples
1/4 cup lemon juice
(sugar if you wish to sweeten more)
In a large pan place mashed strawberries, apples, lemon juice and three cups of water. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer covered for about 30 minutes until the jam thickens. To test if the jam is ready: place a saucer in the freezer and drop a spoonful of jam into the saucer- if it is runny you must cook the jam a bit longer. Let sit for 10 minutes and then pour into sterilized jars. If you would like to made additional flavors you can simmer the strawberries with a vanilla pod and add other types of fruit- such as plums, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and various others.
