Calcium- it is not what you think!

After years of research and my own experience with dairy I have come to the conclusion that milk consumption is one of the leading causes of disease, specifically cancer. Milk feeds the cancer cells that all of us have in our bodies and creates an acidic environment in our stomachs. Most milk is also LOADED with growth hormones and antibiotics; over 30 different growth hormones and 11 growth vaccines, including steroids.

The acidic reaction that dairy produces leaches the calcium both from the consumed milk product and from your bones. Actually milk is so acidic that your body is left with LESS calcium after you consume milk. Increased acidity in your body = increased disease, which explains why the countries that consume the most dairy, Scandinavia and the United States, have the largest rates of osteoporosis (weak and brittle bones). Also, the 3/4 of the world that does not consume milk have been proven to have the strongest bones and teeth. Some interesting statistics: Breast Cancer in China 1:10,000   Breast Cancer in the UK: 1:9. The UK is one of the leading countries in milk consumption and China one of the smallest milk consumers in the world. (Read the China Study, one of the most eye-opening books on the market.)
I am a strong advocate for consuming calcium in non-dairy forms, however unsweetened organic yogurt has some healthy benefits due to the presence of pro-biotics. If you must have cheese, I suggest eating soft goat or sheep cheese in place of all other forms of cheese. Just be sure that you eat dairy only after 12PM. Our bodies are detoxing between the hours of 4AM-12PM, and animal proteins should be avoided within this timeframe so your lymphatic system can fully detoxify and keep your cells healthy.

One of the richest sources of non-dairy calcium is found in the sesame seed  (9% calcium). Tahini also contains a great deal of calcium: 1 TBSP gives you 10% of your daily requirement. Other calcium rich foods include cacao (raw chocolate), aloe vera, nuts, seeds, broccoli, dark leafy greens, salmon, almond/sesame milk, tofu and SEAWEED!!!

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Omega 3 fatty acids play a crucial role in brain function and consuming Omega 3 fatty acids greatly reduces the chances of heart disease (the leading cause of death in the United States and Europe.) Proper balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids (1:4) is essential to good health. In North America and European an overabundance of corn, canola and soy oil is consumed in processed and packaged goods, which are all heavy in Omega 6 fatty acids. An imbalance in these two Omegas causes mental illnesses, heart disease, violent behavior and ADD and may be undetected for years. The best way to promote this healthy balance is to consume 2 Tablespoons of flaxseed daily. You will also get a big dose of fiber, to keep you lean and your heart healthy. Walnuts and fatty fish, such as salmon, also have a high ratio of Omega 3.

Fabulous Fiber!

Fiber is one of the leading causes of weight gain AND disease. The large amount of meat that is consumed around the world sits and, because it lacks in fiber, rots in the stomach and greatly burdens and toxifies the body. Also, because the majority of foods consumed around the world are either cooked or processed they are lacking in enzymes, which our bodies are unable to digest properly, slowing digestion, and thus leading to weight gain, toxicity and disease. Compared to 100 years ago, the diet is severely lacking in fiber. This is one reason we see digestive problems on the rise with diet aids, such as Metamucil and/or laxatives, increasing used to provide a short time solution to an underlying problem. But, I have good news! Today you can make a change in your diet that will greatly increase your chances for a healthy long lifespan and help you to stay lean- EAT FLAXSEEDS!  One of the highest sources of fiber is found in flax seeds, which are also high in B Vitamins & Omega 3 fatty acids, which is an essential fatty acid that the body does not make and requires from the diet. Adding 2 Tablespoons of flax seeds to your diet is a great way to jump start a healthy diet and will give you a beautiful glow that comes from within.

Plus, for every gram of fiber you consume you burn 7 calories effortlessly!

Protein- It is not what you think!

The highest sources of protein are those that absorb the most sun, which are green leafy vegetables and sea vegetables. There is a misconception that protein only comes from animals, however understand that protein is a combination of amino acids, which are found in various types of fruits, nuts, seeds AND GREENS! Remember also that when you cook meat you loose 50% of the protein, therefore, it is essential that you increase your intake of fresh greens in addition to the animal protein you consume. Also, your chances of getting cancer are cut in half if you eat a diet rich in greens and less in animal protein.

Spirulina is one of the highest sources of protein in the world, with a 65% protein content- four times higher than fish or beef and contains four times as much B12 as animal liver.  Quinoa (a grain similar to couscous), buckwheat, hemp and chia seeds, and Brazil nuts are all complete proteins, gluten-free, and full of all the amino acids. I replace all my rice dishes with quinoa and my bread or crackers with buckwheat, coconut and almond flour. Also, hemp and chia seeds are loaded with protein and will add a good dose of raw protein to any meal, especially your smoothies, cereals, or salads. These seeds are comparable to fish proteins but in vegetarian form. Many vegan bodybuilders live off of these two seeds.  I highly suggest you add spirulina, quinoa, hemp and chia seeds to your shopping list.
